Our mission as nursing professionals is to provide support and enhance quality in the Adult Family Home Community.

AFHNA's Code of Ethics

This Code of Ethics for AFHNA was developed as a guide for Licensed Nurse's responsibilities in a manner consistent with professional values and moral standards.  They define the essentials of honorable behavior for the Nurse who works in and with Adult Family Homes. Each AFHNA member will:

  • recognize and respect the welfare and dignity of each Resident without consideration for race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, social or economic status
  • embrace and honor The Rights of Residents and potential Residents in Adult Family Homes and promote each Resident’s right to self-determination
  • demonstrate responsibility and accountability in delivery of optimum care to  residents of AFHs
  • practice with integrity
  • maintain professional competence
  • promote AFH standards of care through continued education
  • support political action in shaping the Washington Administrative Codes (WACs) and rules governing AFHs
  • take personal pride in their work and therefore does not accept gratuities
